The fair board voted 5-3 on Aug. 18 to terminate exclusive talks for 61 affordable homes on fairgrounds land. Del Mar's backup is North Bluff upzoning. Different story from Seaside Ridge itself.

Del Mar is studying a path toward about 20 units per acre on North Bluff sites while it fights the 259-unit Seaside Ridge project in court. Bluff erosion and Coastal Commission review will decide what is buildable.
