The Admiral at Liberty Station Set to Break Ground This Fall
Times of San Diego reported July 24 that shovels are expected this early fall on The Admiral, a $20 million adaptive reuse of five historic officers' quarters and a guardhouse on seven acres at Liberty Station. This is retail, parks, and historic rehabilitation, not new housing. It is still the first real-estate-adjacent project ready to publish for Point Loma.
What is planned
Point Loma resident Ryan Thorsen holds a city lease and is working with OBR Architecture, Liberty Station's longtime historic architect. The plan is a restaurant, speakeasy, game room, event venue, wine market with bakery, and restored gardens with public picnic space, plus about 200 parking stalls. Phase one is aimed at late summer or early fall 2027, with the last phase in fall 2028.
Why it matters
- Liberty Station is Point Loma's mixed-use front door. A seven-acre hospitality and garden project on Rosecrans changes traffic, evening activity, and nearby retail rents.
- It does not add homes, so it will not relieve local inventory.
- If you own near NTC, calendar construction access and event-night parking through 2028, not a housing windfall.
